Toor dal 1 cup

Tomatoes 2 to 3 (desi tomatoes)

Pumpkin 1 cup (chopped)

2 onions (chopped)

2 potatoes (chopped)

ing ½ tsp

Curry leaves 10

green chillies 2 finely chopped

Red chili 1 tsp

Turmeric powder ½ tsp

Coriander powder 1 tsp

Sambar powder 1 tsp

Salt as per taste

Oil 2 tbsp

Mustard ½ tsp

Two dried red chilies

How To Make Sambar Without Tamarind

Let us tell you how to make sambar without tamarind.

First wash the Toor dal in water three to four times.

In a cooker add Toor dal, pumpkin, onion, potatoes, ginger, curry leaves, chopped green chillies, chopped local tomatoes, two cups of water, turmeric powder, red chillies, salt as per taste.

Now we cook it in the cooker till three whistles.

Keep in mind that the vegetables should not melt too much.

Now turn off the gas after three whistles.

Open the cooker after it cools down.

Vegetables should not be cooked too much in sambar. It doesn’t taste good.

Press the vegetables a little with a spoon.

Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan. Mix mustard seeds, dry green chillies and onion in it.

Fry the onion till it turns light brown, add some curry leaves, 1 tsp coriander powder, Red chili powder 1 tsp, sambar powder 1 tsp.

We should fry all three spices a little in oil.

Now we will add all the vegetables to it. Mix it well. Let it cook on gas for at least 5 minutes.
